Construction Progress Update: February 2020

The construction teams of Ayia Napa Marina welcomed 2020 with an expanding range of works that progress steadily in all the project areas.

Essential Buildings:

All the Essential Buildings (Government, Administration, Chandlery, Maintenance, Dry stack Buildings and the Comfort Station) are finalized. Some minor repair works are carried out while the furnishing of all buildings is at its final stages. All buildings have been inspected by the Electricity Authority and obtained the required certifications. The hand-over of the Government Building to the Governmental Authorities was successfully implemented in November 2019.

Marine Works:

All marine works have successfully reached a completion this month, despite the challenges and the extreme weather conditions the project faced during the past three years. The marine works included an enormous amount of soil excavation, backfilling, dredging, construction of thousands of precast concrete armour units and blocks and their precise placement both underwater and above water level. The South Breakwater was the most significant part of the marine works and it forms the main defence mechanism for protecting both the Marina, the Residential and the Commercial Zones of the Development from the winds and waves. On Monday, 27.01.2020 another important milestone was achieved with the entrance of the first boat in the marina.

The Floating Docks are also reaching substantial completion, since the floating units have been installed for the following docks: Naval, Cronus, Oceanus, Apollo, Hermes, Aphrodite, Hestia, Zeus, Hera and Poseidon. The installation of their gangways, services and pedestals is in progress.

Roadworks:

The roadworks construction is ongoing for the west and north side of the development. The asphalt paving of East Road is now completed as well as at the primary entrance of the Development. The landscape works have also commenced and are well in progress (hard & soft landscape). The removal of backfill material below the bridge is now completed, and the bridge is now used for accessing the island.

Parking Garage:

The construction of the waterproofing and screed works on the roof has finished. The installation of the MEP services is ongoing having an overall completion percentage of 95%. At the same time, the lift installations are ongoing. The support system for the aluminum expanded mesh has been finalized with the installation of the aluminum mesh being pending. The installation of the external stone cladding has been completed.

Commercial Building A:

At the internal areas of the Commercial Building A, the activity of plasterboard has been completed. The sanitary fittings and the screeds have been completed in the Public Toilets area. Externally, the activity of trellis fixing and the installation of the external stone cladding have also been completed. The MEP installation works are at 100% completion. The progress of the installation of the aluminum frames for the curtain wall, is at 90% completion.

Commercial Building B & C:

At the internal areas of the Commercial Buildings B & C, the activity of drywall partitions placement has been completed. Externally, the activity of trellis fixing and the installation of the external stone cladding have been completed. The MEP installation works are at 100% completion. The progress of the installation of the aluminum frames for the curtain wall, is at 85% completion.

Commercial Building D:

At the internal areas of the Commercial Building D, the activity of plasterboard has been completed by 65%. Externally, the activity of trellis fixing has commenced, the installation of the external stone cladding is at 90% completion. The MEP installation works are at 95% completion.

Event Centre:

The casting of the reinforced concrete walls has been finalized as well as the casting of the concrete ceiling plan. The external works are also in progress, including the MEP embedded items.

Yacht Club:

The construction of blockworks and the roof waterproofing has been completed and the external plastering works are at 40% completion. The internal plaster works reached 30% completion. At the same time, the external concreting works of the yard is at 85% completion.

East Tower:

The reinforcement works for the 3rd cast of the ground floor core walls including the electrical embedded works have been finalized. The raft foundation of the podium structure is well progressing having 4 out of 5 casts being completed.

West Tower:

The excavation works of the foundation raft slab is at 50% completion and the cut off pile heads progress has reached 30% completion.

Island Villas:

Structural Concrete Works are ongoing at Villas 24,25,26,27,29. Blockworks and Architectural Finishes have commenced at Villas 18,19,20,21,22.

Beach Villas:

Structural Concrete Works are ongoing at Villas 1,2,4,5,10,11 & Club Pavilion (except Villa 3-steel yard). Blockworks have commenced at Villas 7,8,9.
